12 Best Water Parks in the World

Splashing, slides, and sunshine—there’s nothing like a great day at the water park! There are hundreds of water parks all over the world, and they’re all fun, but not all water parks are created equal. To get a look at the best ones out there, look at this list of the 12 best water parks in the world.

1    Siam Park, Spain

Siam Park is Spain’s most incredible waterpark, and arguably the best in the world. This park is Asian-themed, and it includes everything you could possibly ask for when it comes to water adventures. There are dozens of fantastic rides, many of them so adrenaline-pumping that even the biggest thrill junkie will be satisfied. A wave machine, surprise dragons in the slides, tunnels through shark tanks, and more make for a fantastic experience.

2    Aquaventure Water Park, Dubai

Dubai has a few really cool water parks, but this is one of them best. The whole park is connected by a series of waterways, which take you through zero entry pools, rapids, and serene rivers. Crazy slides, as well as a special children’s play area, keep everyone happy and having fun. If you’re really daring, you can take the underwater shark walk with a scuba helmet! The park also has the longest zipline in the Middle East and a private beach.

3    Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Orlando

Just in case Disney World and Epcot aren’t enough for you, Disney also has a fantastic water park in Orlando! The Storm Slides are a blast for big kids and teens, while the Bay Slides, a mini version of the Storm Slides, accommodate toddlers. A lazy river, thrill rides, and a surf pool round out the fun.

4    Aquaventure Water Park at Atlantic Paradise Island Nassau

The Caribbean version of Dubai’s favorite water park is no less exciting. Fantasy-like towers, fast slides, swimming pools, a fort and a huge river make this an incredible experience. Try The Abyss for a heart-pounding drop through a pitch black slide, waterfalls, and underground caverns. Ride through Serpent Slide to get dizzy on the corkscrew twist, the darkness of the temple’s core, and the excitement of shooting through a shark-filled lagoon. These are just a few of the amazing rides at Aquaventure!

5    Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi

Beat the burning Arab sun by hitting the pool at Yas Waterworld. The entire family can play in Marah Fortress, a huge family-sized playground. Or, take the Bandit Bomber, an interactive roller coaster. Dozens of crazy slides (ending in giant snake heads, of course), flowboarding, and other fun water rides offer endless fun. The best part is that the waterpark takes you through the story of a magical adventure, and you can be your own version of Indiana Jones.

6    World Waterpark, Alberta

The gigantic, enclosed West Edmonton Mall boasts not only tons of attractions and shopping, but also a huge indoor water park. There is a delightful tangle of slides, surf lessons, and even a zip line! The park also is home to the world’s largest indoor wave pool. You can rent a private cabana or jump right in with your kids. Even in Canada’s freezing winter, World Waterpark is up and running!

7    Happy Magic, Beijing

The world watched Michael Phelps take gold again and again in the Water Cube during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Now, you can visit the Water Cube and splash around, too! You’re guaranteed to have even more fun than Phelps did, because the Water Cube now holds a fantastic water park. A system of adrenaline-pumping slides, made out of clear material, wind and twist their way through the park beneath the colorful lights of the Water Cube. This is the most fun thing you can do in Beijing!

8    Caribbean Bay, South Korea

Unless you go for a few days straight, chances are you won’t have time to try everything at Caribbean Bay! This water park in South Korea is chock-full of stuff to do. There are the usual activities, like the lazy river and all the slides, plus more unique activities that you probably won’t find anywhere else. The indoor dive pool is especially popular with teens, while the spa activities are perfect for adults who are worn out from a long day of playing in the sun.

9    Wet N’ Wild Waterworld. Texas

Everything is bigger in Texas! That includes water parks. Wet ‘N Wild Waterworld has all sorts of fun activities for families, including several play areas especially for little kids, places to relax by the pool, and a dozen thrill rides for the bold and the brave. There are also some attractions for sports fanatics, including beach volleyball and the Slippery Rock Challenge. People of all ages and interests will have fun here!

10    Area 47, Austria

Enjoy thrills that you won’t get anywhere but Area 47. This park is the Extreme Sports version. You may feel like you’re on X-Games while you’re here, because you’ll be cliff diving, blobbing, and bouldering all day. Go cannonballing—and by “cannonballing,” we don’t mean jumping off the side of the pool. At Area 47, that means getting literally cannonballed into the air by a blast of water! You can also do the water ramp and surf slide (not your normal waterpark slide; you have to wear a helmet!) or do a jump from ten meters above the surface of the water. This is the ultimate epic water park!

11    Noah’s Ark, Wisconsin

The largest water park in America is also one of the best. You probably never expected to go surfing in Wisconsin, but guess what? You can do that here! Well, you can do it with a body board, at least. Take a ride down a pitch-black slide, or hop on a raft with the whole family and embark into the darkness of twists, turns, drops, and rapids. Ride over a waterfall, experience the bowl ride, and take the near-vertical drop inside the Scorpion’s Tale.

12    Tropical Islands, Germany

Tropical Islands Resort in Germany is home to one of the coolest water parks you’ll encounter in Europe. Head to the Tropical Sea for beach bumming and scuba dive instruction, or go to the Magical lagoon for heated water, slides, and a whirlpool. The 27-meter high waterslides give you an adrenaline rush, and the kids’ pool is perfect for little ones.

I’m presently in Dubai and would like to visit the Aquaventure water park, Dubai, but I’m a bit confused. While it has a good place for kids to have fun, does it have pirate themed pools or waters? My kids can’t stop wanting to enjoy swashbuckling moments in a pirate themed pool after watching a certain movie.

I think one of the very best ways to go out and have some great family fun is through water parks. I’m so glad that Beijing was able to reuse the Water Cube and turn it into a park! Especially one that looks that magical and fun. I’m sure it lives up to its name and would definitely love to visit. I would also love to visit World Waterpark in Alberta. I have a friend who lives nearby and he always teases that it’s funny he can have a water park open in the middle of winter in Canada but I, a…

I’m not a big fan of water dives and slides but I wouldn’t mind going swimming with the sharks. So the Dubai water park looks like the right fit for me. The Austrian Area 47 also sounds exciting but I wouldn’t have the courage to try out those extreme rides. Even the names sound intimidating to me. Although I have to admit that I’d like to watch from aside someone cannonballing. That park would probably be a great place for some extreme game show. It would be really cool if they already have…

My kids can’t stop talking about the Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Orlando. It was a swashbuckling moment at this water park, bringing back the memories of the Disney World.

I absolutely looooove water parks. I always end up having the best time there! I love swimming, I love playing, I love extreme sports, and I love spending time with friends and water parks are pretty much the best places to do all of that. My favorite from this list has to be Area 47. Seems amazing! Happy Magic looks like it really is magical and Siam is now added to my “to-see-and-have-fun-in” list. Awesome collection, will save this for later!
