I haven’t been on that many adventure trips yet but I wholeheartedly agree on the benefits of it. Spending time outdoors is great for your health. And if you get to discover new countries and cultures, meet interesting people and make new friends in the process, that makes it even better. And the volunteer vacation sounds very interesting. Something worth checking out!

I never booked a flight without doing my homework before by making a list of the perfect places to experience the city a bit more “different”. I’m not one to go to fancy hotels or stay in bed late, it’s way better to meet cool locals and to be a bit more adventurous than your average travelling buddy.

All these points are quite true I must agree. Like building one’s connection; I’m a good example of that. For instance, when I went to Japan, I met wonderful people who were able to hook me up with professionals in my field. I’m quite sure I won’t have gotten such opportunity if I was in my room! Also, one is definitely keeping fit when traveling around.

Number 7 is on spot, apart from adventure and getting to know people and places one major reason why I travel is to help local people.

I am not big on fitness but a close friend told me that I should look into my options in terms of adventure. He said that I should go somewhere new and don’t plan anything other than where I will be sleeping at night. I guess this is a good way to open yourself up to new things and change without committing to anything. Win! Win!

I really thought that the article was well-written and thought-provoking, Candice. I can relate to some of the reasons you list. My over-riding experience is to visit many places, meet new people, see wonderful sights and go to my maker for having been fortunate enough to have seen so much.
