9 Things We Already Know About Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is always dreaming up new adventures for visitors to enjoy while they are vacationing in paradise. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the latest, and most anticipated, new attractions that will be debuting in the lead up to WDW’s 50th anniversary. Understandably, Disney is trying to keep it all under wraps, but Star Wars fans won’t be denied!

Here are 9 things we already know about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World:

1    Only 1 Year Away!

To the delight of rabid Star Wars fans, this amazing attraction will finally be opening in 2019! While it will debut first out at the Disneyland Resort, it will not be too long before it opens at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

2    It’s Located on the Planet of Batuu

While on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests will visit the planet of Batuu, which is a remote outpost that used to be part of the old sub-lightspeed trade routes. The only people that live there now are smugglers, rogue travelers, and those who are trying to avoid the reach of the First Order.

3    Everyone Will See Characters from Galaxies Far, Far Away

While visitors will see numerous characters from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge including BB-8, members of the First Order, Chewbacca, and many others, there will be some surprises as well. People will want to keep their eyes open for Rex, the DJ of the cantina, who was the troublesome pilot from a previous version of a Disney attraction.

4    Guests Can Fly the Millennium Falcon

Guests will be placed in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon to complete their mission and during that time, they will pilot the ship, shoot blasters, and prepare for hyperspace. This is a difficult mission and those that perform it well will earn extra galactic credits, while those who return with a destroyed Millennium Falcon may be sought after by Harko, the bounty hunter. Those are the people who will need to watch their backs when they venture out to the local cantina.

5    Guests Will Also Go on a Star Destroyer

This second attraction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has not been named yet, but it is being built on a scale that Disney has never attempted before. Everyone will feel like they are inside a hangar bay amongst a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

6    The Cantina Serves Blue Milk

There has only been one food and beverage item announced for the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction so far. The only interesting item that we know will be served is the blue milk that Luke Skywalker drank in Star Wars IV: A New Hope.
