Disney World Ticket and Pass Options – What’s the Difference?

Buying tickets for Disney World can be confusing. One-day or multi-day? Single park or Park Hopper? And, now there is demand based admission pricing.

Disney World is comprised of five different parks, including Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and the just opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You could buy separate tickets for each, but Disney World has many ticket options available that will have you seeing as many of the parks as you wish, while saving money and having the adventure of a lifetime. Here are some tips for choosing the right tickets for your Disney family vacation.

Disney World Ticket Options

1 Park Per Day Ticket

This ticket will allow you to enter one of Disney World’s theme parks per day. You can purchase this ticket for multiple days and choose to enter a different park each day.

Ticket with Park Hopper Option

When you purchase a ticket with a park hopper option, you will be allowed to visit as many of the theme parks as you wish for each day that your ticket is valid. That means that you can easily begin at Magic Kingdom in the morning, before continuing on to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom later on.

Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option

This ticket option gives you all the benefits of the ticket with park hopper option above, but you receive an extra benefit too. The additional benefit will have you visiting a number of other Disney attractions for a specific number of times. Those attractions include:

• Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
• Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
• Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
• Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
• ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
• Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course

Each one of the Disney World ticket options listed above are available as a one-day pass or you can purchase a ticket that is valid for three, four, five days, or more. The more days that you purchase, the cheaper the per day ticket ends up being.

The Disney Platinum Pass allows the passholder to enter any of the four Disney theme parks at any time during the year and there are no blackout dates. Passholders can even visit all four parks on the same day if they wish. This platinum pass also includes a twenty percent discount for select dining options, as well as select merchandise in store or online. You will also receive standard theme park parking with this pass, plus Disney PhotoPass downloads.

Disney Platinum Plus Pass

The Disney Platinum Plus Pass offers all the benefits of the Platinum Pass mentioned above, but as a passholder, you will also receive admission to both Disney water parks, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and the Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course without blackout dates. This means that you can have a year’s worth of fun at all the Disney parks without worrying about spending a small fortune. Instead, you will find yourself paying one low price for this annual pass and can simply renew it every year to keep the savings going.

Florida Resident Tickets and Passes

If you are one of the Disney visitors that happens to live in the state of Florida, then you can take advantage of their special offers for Florida residents. There are many options that you can choose from and you can choose the one that meets your needs the most. A few of the benefits of the Florida resident options include:

• Admission to all four parks on the same day
• Special discounts on select dining, merchandise, and even certain Disney Resort hotels
• Standard theme park parking
• A customizable MagicBand is included

All ticketholders and annual passholders have access to FastPass+. All you need to do is go to the My Disney Experience mobile app, or go online, and make up to three different FastPass+ selections for one park for each day of your visit. You can choose Magic Kingdom the first day, Epcot the second day, and whatever parks you wish for the remainder of your visit.
These selections can be made up to thirty days in advance of your visit with a valid ticket, but you can do it up to sixty days in advance if you have a reservation at a Disney World Resort hotel.

While you can easily do this prior to your visit, you can also wait until you arrive at Disney World to make your choices. If you choose to do that, you will need to stop at the FastPass+ kiosks to make same day selections only.

Once you have used your three FastPass+ selections for the day, you can make another selection for that same day via your mobile device or the FastPass+ kiosk.

You are only allowed to create FastPass+ selections for up to seven days during a thirty-day period of time.

These are all the available ticket and pass options that are available for Disney World. You may think that there are too many choices, but in reality, it allows you, and every other visitor, to choose exactly what you need for each visit that you make. That means that you will not need to purchase tickets that offer too much for one visit or a ticket that will not give you everything that you need for a future visit.

Remember that admission prices vary according to day of the week and time of year. Less busy times are cheaper (and less crowded!). It is recommended that you compare each ticket option carefully. You can save hundreds of dollars and have a smoother, more enjoyable holiday when you choose the right Walt Disney World tickets.
